A board’s flex is determined by the combination of initial tension (camber), profile and sidecut of the core, torsion (depending on materials used in the upper and lower area around the core), setback and stance. So it’s generally quite easy to build hard, stiff boards although that doesn’t automatically make for a smoother ride or better control! Stiff boards are also rather unforgiving and need to be ridden very actively. So Völkl Snowboards have their focus on a softer flex pattern, which through experience and technical know-how guarantees optimal torsional rigidity and ultimate stability. Ultra-light materials such as carbon, aramid or titanium add even more smoothness while reducing weight, resulting in lively boards with playful feel and maximum response.
