What means snowboarding to you?
When I snowboard I feel free… I can do whatever I want to do. No one is telling me what I should do… just the feeling being out with your friends and ride pow and you know, everybody has the time of his life!! Sharing a good pow day with your friends is a priceless feeling.
Has your life changed beeing a snowboard pro?
Yes it did for sure. I saw so many amazing places in the world, I wouldn’t have seen, if I woudnt be a snowboard pro.
But also you are free and can do what u like to do, everyday! Its like a holyday all year long!
What kind of rider are you?
When I started snowboarding I've been in the parks all the time. Then I started to film and went to the back country and in the streets more and more. But since two years I focus on back country, because it's what I want and I just didn’t have fun anymore riding in the streets. In the back country you got that feeling with the mountain. It's not only about snowboarding anymore, its all the experience about the mountain and how to behave and stuff.
What do you like most about Völkl Snowboards?
From the first time you got a Völkl Snowboard under you feet, you don’t wanna get off anymore. It feels so good and you can ride pow and park on the same day.
The place to be?
Arlberg is just the back country playground in Europe. Its just one beautiful place!!
Your signature trick?
I could do bs5 or switch bs5 for days… your just hanging in the air and you see everything all the time…
What kind of style is up to date? What trick is done?.
I really like the slow mo bs3 cork, or fs3 cork… it’s the thing, that its not that easy to stay smooth and go overhead once… like a double cork is way easier, because u spin a lot. But a slow fs3 cork is not that easy.
I don’t think that a trick is ever done. If you are bored of a trick, then you just do it on a different terrain.. like flipping something out of a tree or a pillow and it's already way different.
Which trick do you want to learn next?
I wanna learn some cool switch tricks.
How do you motivate yourself and learn new tricks?
Everywhere I go, I think about snowboarding. For example, if I have a run through the forrest, im looking at trees or pillows and think how I could ride that.
You had any dangerous situations on the mountain so far?
There have been some scary moments on the mountains with avalanches. But we've learned a lot from those situations and got smarter and know more about it. Im not happy that stuff like that happened, but we try to see it positive, because we know more about it now and know what to do on situations like that. Experience..
Highlights of last season?
There was a day in Italy with an awesome crew and I just landed everything all day long!! It really felt like I can try everything and it works out. After a day like that youre just so damn happy!
Blue bird & perfect conditions – who should be in your riding crew?
I love being outthere with all my friends and ride through the trees and just have a good time. It's different if I go out shooting. Then it's getting more serious as you do bigger and more dangerous stuff…. But definitely with the TfA Crew..
The best Snowboard trip ever was...
Ive travelled a lot with the Forum Team. Most the time in north America. That was such a expercience. But a trip with Isenseven to Sweden has been really amazing. It was the end of the season and we just did some minishred and had a good time. BBQ on the mountain and riding some fun slushy obstacles..
What stuff is in your backpack when you head up to ride or travel?
Since two seasons I always have a headtorch in my riding backpack. Because we always stay outthere till late, and most the time it got too dark. It’s a thing, not everybody takes to the backcountry, but they should!
What is your favourite contest & why?
I think all the contest which involve fun, are awesome. Like for example at the stubai opening they had a boarder cross, with some jumps and jiibs… it's different, but so much fun. Or The Snake thing in Montafon. It doesn’t always have to be the biggest jump…
What do you do when you are not riding?
I try to spend as much time as I can with my family, girl and friends from home. Because I travel alot and don’t see them that often. That’s why I really enjoy it, when im home.
In five years I want...
Still riding pow and wanna give all the experience I have, to the younger riders.
Be careful out there and keep the mountains clean!! We all should respect the nature more!
