Fiberglass weave

Since the fiberglass weave has as much influence on the flex and torsion of the core as its thickness and profile, the choice of weave (direction of individual fibers in relation to one another) and its thickness are selected individually for each length of board. The thicker the core and its layers, the stiffer the flex of the board.

Biaxial fiberglass weave in upper and lower beam

Glass fibers are interwoven with one another at 90° angles lengthwise and transversely, making torsional stiffness relatively low. This gives the board a good-natured temperament.

Triaxial fiberglass weave in upper and lower beam

This special weave consists of fibers that are positioned at a 45° angle (+45°/-45°) in addition to a longitudinal direction. Depending on the density of the woven fibers, torsion and flex are enhanced without increasing the core’s thickness. This reduces weight and enhances responsiveness as well as edge grip.

V-Flex fiberglass weave

The V-Flex is a triaxial fiberglass weave with increased fiber density (grammage) reinforcing the area around the bindings. This provides optimal distribution of power to the edges of the board, making it more stable when strong forces are applied.

Völkl Premium Carbon weave

Especially produced for Völkl these extremely light Premium Carbon fibers in the lower layer make the board particularly strong and lively. The carbon fibers’ tensile strength allows for very short response times and the length-wise integrated fiberglass strips enhance the board’s torsional stiffness and add more pop. Depending on the required riding characteristics and the amount of carbon, Völkl has developed four different types of carbon inlays.

Völkl Premium Carbon weave / POP1.0

Features two short V-shaped Völkl Premium Carbon strips embedded in the nose and tail.

Völkl Premium Carbon weave / POP2.0

Features one strip from nose to tail, plus two short V-shaped ones embedded in the nose and tail.

Völkl Premium Carbon weave / POP3.0

This type features three strips from the nose to tail that meet in the middle.

Völkl Premium Carbon weave / POP4.0

This layer, made completely of carbon, adds minimum weight and provides more smoothness and maximum response.

Double aramid weave

Tension and pressure resistant aramid fibers in the upper and lower layer dampen vibrations in the board, especially at higher speeds.

Triple aramid weave

Tension and pressure resistant aramid fibers in the upper and lower layer dampen vibrations in the board, especially at higher speeds.
