RACEWALL SIDEWALL

In racing, the performance makes the difference. A normal sidewall slows down on turns and when riding hard on the edge. That’s why we developed a special Race Sidewall for the Coal that is made of the same sintered material as the base. Actually, it is kind of an extension of the base as the sidewall, too, can now be waxed according to the temperature of the snow – in a race fractions of seconds count!

WOODEN SIDEWALLS WITH TPU DAMPENING

Lab tests showed that wooden sidewalls have a more balanced flex curve than conventional ABS sidewalls without sacrificing stability! Völkl’s wooden sidewalls consist of several connected layers of strong armor wood – a stunning visual feature! A complex special impregnation process protects the wood against moisture and the effects of Mother Nature. Brand-new: a dampening layer made of shock-absorbing PU in between sidewall and edge. This TPU dampening is a thermal-plastic polyurethane which is especially flexible.

To add stability, our wooden sidewalls are all coated with high-quality fiberglass, which improves durability without sacrificing flexibility.

ABS SIDEWALL REINFORCEMENT WITH TPU DAMPENING

To add durability, the ABS sidewalls are coated with high-quality fiberglass. Additionally, an extra strong TPU inlay between the steel edge and sidewall dampens jumps on rails and boxes. This combination makes the sidewall particularly impact-proof and shock-resistant – rail rats will love it.
