„You are the ones who have the power to change things. Every buying decision you make is a decision for a specific product or brand, whether it’s in the supermarket or in your snowboard shop of choice. You decide upon a brand and the philosophy behind it. You decide upon who will be successful in the future. Is it the company that fights environmental pollution and over-exploitation of natural resources? Or is it the brand that does nothing or very little about it?

As passionate snowboarders and snow bums we all spend a lot of time outdoors. It’s precisely here where we become aware of the fact that our “habitat” is in great danger. But the fantastic sport of snowboarding requires a sound and healthy environment!

It’s a shame that even we leave more than just tracks in the fresh powder; we also have an impact on our environment – just like the entire industry. But we’re aiming to minimise this impact. Völkl has been receiving environmental awards and prizes for a number of years – even when “Eco” was still a fun word and not the “lifestyle of the future”. We don’t want to lead you astray, of course we can do more about this issue.

Our engineers and craftsmen are super motivated to combine Völkl high-tech and “Eco”. The new CASHEW snowboard is a start in that direction. Sorry, it’s not recyclable. It represents the first step of an exciting journey. Together with our first little “eco-t-shirt collection”, it’s a symbol. A lot more is happening behind the scenes which is indirectly incorporated into our products.

The higher the demand of brands and products that follow a philosophy of environmental awareness and responsibility, the harder the industry will have to work towards satisfying this demand. This issue will become more important to all players in the snowboard business.
