You probably have a nickname!? Tell us about the funny story behind!
Not really, in Bavaria friends modify your first name a little bit. And afterwards the names sound like a tomato, which is falling to the ground. So my friends call me Mortl.

Do you remember your first day on a snowboard?
First I was skiing and after a few seasons I was absolutely sure to finish my skiing career with 6 years and begin snowboarding. My fisrt day was in Hochkar/Austria. It was a deep powder day and I looked like a snowman all the day.

How did you learn new  tricks back in the days?
My only but best trick was to ride straight on without any curve. Learning was trial and error. Sometimes success but mostly error in the beginnings –  just snowman-boarding.

Why did you never stop snowboarding since then?
I tried many kinds of sports: skiing, surfing, windsurfing, inline street slalom … but snowboarding is simply the best.

You probably have visited a bunch of different ski resorts already. What is your favorite place, what was the most exotic and where would you like to live and ride in the future?
I am young and up to now I visited several mountains and areas in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Switzerland is cool – Disentis for example. I had much fun on the glaciers of Austria like Kaunertal or Soelden, but most exotic? I don´t know. I hope, I will be able to visit many exotic places in the world in the next years and then please ask again.

You  also must have seen tons of snowboard videos in the past. What´s your favorite video part and why do you remember it?
Last year I won a ticket for M-X-S Movie Night of Extreme Sports; I liked this film very much: we watched snowboarding in a cinema with a very big screen, you have the feeling that you can get up from your seat and take part in the film.

Let us know about your favourite trick! Do you have any specials in your trick bag?
Up to now, it was not my aim to learn one trick after the other; my best trick is to start at a SBX-Race and to win it. I work for it – to get out fast from the gates, to get a good position on the track and have much fun in overtaking manoeuvres. I look at boarders in the park and some friends of me prefer freestyle, so I try to learn tricks, too. Last seasons I took place in PGS and PSL and learned race-techniques.

What do you like most about Völkl Snowboards?
Völkl boards, for example the coal is a weapon in SBX! Fast , best practice in carving in front of the kickers and very important: an exact performance at the landing point. I have the feeling, I can trust in my timing because I can trust in my board. Last season I participated in many PSL and PGS races with Völkl RS and SL Racetiger boards. And I love my tiger at the top of the board. It always says to me: Martin, listen! I am not a lazy domestic cat -  I am a tiger! Ride me like a tiger. The raceboards are very powerful and have a perfect design.

What about entertainment? Let us know about your gigabytes of MP3s and videos!
Watching videos or TV? Not so much, mostly youtube videos on the internet. For myself I like it more to be active as to watch TV – but sometimes Im very lazy and I watch TV all the day or I am playing playstation.

How do you make your stomach happy? You for sure have some favorite drinks and food!?
A very easy question: Top of the list are grandma´s Maultaschen.

What was your best experience so far in life? Can you explain a little?
My best sporting experience is to practice all kinds of sports and to use the transfer effects for better snowboarding. Wake boarding, Longboarding and skating slalom down the streets, slackline, freeskiing, ice-skating and many other things.

And finally what is your biggest dream?
My dream is to start at the X-Games and at the Olympic Games in SBX. I hope I will get a chance in a few years. Next season is my first international season in FIS in adults class. It will be very hard, because I will be one of the youngest starter, but I will work hard and perhaps in a few years I will get my chance.

Life is probably too short to ride a bad board.
