You probably have a nickname!? Tell us about the funny story behind!
My nickname is Merten. It’s my last name and everybody calls me this.
Do you remember your first day on a snowboard?
I was at Seefeld/ Tirol age 13 and watched others and wanted to try this snowboarding. I did! Three days later I got myself a board and love snowboarding since then.
How did you learn new tricks back in the days?
I build powder jumps and hit cliffs with my friends. Trial and error was the motto. But I kept on doing my tricks. There are still so many tricks that can be created in snowboarding, you just have to find them.
Why did you never stop snowboarding since then?
I love snowboarding. And sometimes it loves me back.
You probably have visited a bunch of different ski resorts already. What is your favorite place, what was the most exotic and where would you like to live and ride in the future?
My favorite place is for sure Penken/ Mayrhofen/ Tirol because of the sick terrain and it’s perfect park. Whistler would be a nice place to live and shred. In general I like B.C. a lot and could picture myself there and riding the sled everyday and have fun snowboarding.
You also must have seen tons of snowboard videos in the past. What´s your favorite video part and why do you remember it?
Optimistic- Gigi Rüf. Sick backcountry stuff with good style. Makes me want to go ride!

What do you like most about Völkl Snowboards?
Like the Team and Crew. I’m happy for their support. The Boards ride very well, so every time I step on my board these days I get a smile on my face and just a good time on my snowboard.

Got only 2Gigs. Mostly rock and raga riddim stuff. Gets me in a good mood before and after riding.
How do you make your stomach happy? You for sure have some favorite drinks and food!?
My stomach gets really happy with Ham and Cheese Pizza and a big glass cold milk.
What was your best experience so far in life? Can you explain a little?
When I was at Dachstein last year. Just riding with friends, doing good tricks in the park and just having a good time. This was awesome!
And finally what is your biggest dream?
Have fun while I’m young and work on my goals and be sitting on the beach with beautiful women for the rest of my life. Have some baccardi with it and listen to the song from the TV advertisement. What a life!
