Birgit: "Thanks to my coach Daniela Bodner I had the chance to took part at the first Youth Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck. Twelve days full of pleasure and excitement.
As a part of the Austrian olympic team I started in the category 'Snowboard Slopestyle'. After a good qualification round I made it to the finals which was really cool at this point. At the end of the day I got eight and I'm very proud of my self for being the only Austrian rider in the top 10 ... wether it's girls or boys ;)
The contest went down at Kühtai which is luckily my favorite home resort. Thanks to the short distance from home a lot of my friends as well as my family came to support me which was a great motivation. I even got my own supporters club and I had the chance to give away some of my lovely autograph cards.
All in all I had a blast at this great event ... medal ceremonies, concerts, funny dinners with athletes from over 70 different nations, annoying security checks and great luxury with our own luggage carrier, physiotherapist, doctor and so on ...
My new personal goal: the olympic games 2014 in Russia ;)"
By the way ... Völkl team rider Andre Escobar from Chile got ninth at the snowboard slopestyle men.
